So, thus far in Libby's short life (two months old today!), she has not been a nuk (read: pacifier) kinda girl. She will take it if Mom or Dad really forces the issue, but, she has never really gone looking for it. So, imagine our surprise on Friday when Miss Libby discovered the the tasty treat that is her thumb. Since her momentous discovery, whenever her hand comes anywhere near her mouth, she tries to jam the whole fist in there, before finally settling on the thumb (it's great to see the expression of absolute wonder on her face--it's as if everytime she finds her thumb, it's the first time!). It makes feeding her somewhat challenging, as she wants to have bottle and thumb at the same time. What makes her thumb-sucking even more amusing than the sounds she makes, is the fact that while one hand is in the mouth, the other is on her ear. It makes for a humorous scene. . .especially if you've ever seen Disney's "Robin Hoo

d". Prince John, anyone? I know thumb-sucking isn't the best thing in the world, and we certainly aren't encouraging it (okay, so maybe Mom isn't), but Libby has been very happy these last few days. And, even better, she's averaging between six and seven consecutive hours of sleep!
