Libby Opening Her Presents
The last eight days or so have been pretty rough for the Yandek Family, especially for Libby and Mary. Things started off well enough last Saturday, as Dad and Libby played in the snow for a good chunk of time. They had the sledding hill all to themselves and then, when the wind got to be too much for Libby, she agreed to help Dad shovel all the snow. She was a big help!

Mary Post-Hospital Stay
On Sunday, however, Libby started getting sick, eventually coming down with her 1,275th double ear infection. Yes, she has tubes. No, they are not working. If this continues, she will be going to see Dr. Van Gogh to see if there isn't a more permanent solution to her ear infection problems. So Dad stayed home with Libby on Monday. She was not a happy girl.

Mary, Pre-Hospital Stay
Tuesday and Wednesday were snow days for Dad. Usually, these are joyous occasions. Not so, this time (not because Libby was sick, but because the Fresh Beat Band is evil--I hate you Nick Jr.!). Both girls were home with Dad on Tuesday. Tuesday morning was great; Tuesday afternoon, not so much. Unbeknownst to Dad, not only was Libby sick, but Mary was working on a virus that would ultimately land her in the hospital. Mom stayed home with her crew on Wednesday (God be praised!), and it was still a pretty rough one. Libby did not sleep well, was up most of the night crying and trying to get into Mom and Dad's bed. Some nights, she was successful, others she was not.

Happier Times--Playing in the Snow
On Friday morning, after a miserable night for Mary, she was admitted to the hospital. Although she tested negative for RSV, Mary spent Friday and Saturday nights in the hospital. She finally got to come home on Sunday--Mom's Birthday. Thankfully, she had a good afternoon nap and a good night's sleep, after pretty much not sleeping at all in the hospital. So, for the second time in three years, Mom spent her birthday at Fairview Hospital. At least she got to have breakfast on her birthday with Libby, Mary and Dad--hotcakes from McDonald's! Speaking of pancakes, those will be on the menu tonight for Libby's birthday dinner. Incidentally, she had pancakes for dinner last night, too. So, to recap: 10 days, 5 trips to the doctor's office, 2 snow days, 2 nights spent in the hospital, 2 ear infections, 2 birthdays, and Libby is 2 years old!
